With great pleasure and pride SDP announces that this year's workshop ahead of the annual DAAG meeting will be given by Ron Howard, Professor & Director, Decisions and Ethics Center in the Department of Management Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Stanford University.
Workshop DescriptionFifty years ago, Ron performed the first Decision Analysis and all DA practitioners would recognize the approach today. We have learned a lot since then but the DA foundation has passed the test of time. Ron will speak about the fundamentals that every decision professional needs to practice as well as his responses to the many challenges, "paradoxes", and competing theories that have emerged over the last fifty years.
Who should attend this workshop? This workshop will be of interest to the new practitioner and the seasoned professional alike. The course provides a first-hand opportunity to experience Ron's Socratic method of teaching. Bring your questions.
Our Instructor Ron Howard is well known as one of the founders of the decision analysis discipline. He has been Professor in the Department of Engineering-Economic Systems (now the Department of Management Science and Engineering) in the School of Engineering of Stanford University since 1965. His books on probabilistic modeling, decision analysis, dynamic programming, and Markov processes serve as major references for courses and research in these fields. He is also a co-founder of the Strategic Decisions Group (SDG).
